Takata airbag incidents still happening

With the recent death of a young man in Fort Bend County, Texas, result of the defective Takata airbags, the list of deaths now reaches 10.

According to Reuters, the latest death occurred when a 17 year-old driver impacted his Honda Civic against a CR-V. The Sheriff issued of Fort Bend County says the person who was driving the Civic was wearing a seat belt and was not speeding. However, a piece of metal that shot out of the airbag assembly cut the carotid of the driver.

When reviewing the list of deaths caused by Takata air bags, we see that nine out of the ten victims were traveling in Honda vehicles, while the other case occurred in a Ford Ranger.

As we know, to this date more than 24 million vehicles 19 million from the United States have been called to review because the system airbags have this serious design defect.

In the latest report from the NHTSA up to March 11 of 2016 companies have replaced 7.5 million airbag systems.
