BMW produces new diesel engine

BMW just used the International Vienna Motor Symposium to launch their new diesel engine with four turbochargers.

This new block is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder that delivers impressive figures, for example, the maximum power of 394 hp is available between 4,000 and 4,400 rpm. Along with this amazing figure of force comes the torque of 561 lb-ft available between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm. According to BMW, the peak torque could be even higher but at this moment it is electronically limited to preserve the life of the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Once in operation inside the 7 Series 750D xDrive which is the first model that makes use of this performance, BMW predicts the 0 to 100 km/h to be done in 4.5 seconds .

Some data mentioned to us regarding this new engine with four turbos is that besides being five percent more efficient compared with the six-cylinder tri-turbo it replaces, it is also cheaper to manufacture.

Finally we would like to inform everyone that later, this six-cylinder will come included on the X5 and X6, as well as the 5-Series.

What do BMW owners think of that?
